Terms of use

Last updated: {{DATE}}

These terms apply to your use of IsPixelWorking at ispixelworking.com (the "service"), operated by [operator details pending], {{OPERATOR_ADDRESS}} ("we", "us"). By using the service you agree to these terms.

1. What the service does

IsPixelWorking loads a web page you specify in an automated browser, observes the ad tracking on that page (for example the Meta Pixel), and produces a report with findings, a grade and suggestions for fixing problems.

A report is a technical observation made by an automated browser, at one point in time, from one location (shown in the report). It can be incomplete or wrong, for example because the site behaves differently for other visitors, other countries or automated browsers, or because tracking happens server-to-server where we cannot see it. Our methodology explains how checks work and their limits.

2. No legal advice, no certification

Reports describe technical behaviour. They are not legal advice and do not state whether a website complies with the GDPR, ePrivacy rules or any other law. A good grade is not a certificate of compliance. For legal questions, consult a qualified professional.

3. Using the service

4. Reports and sharing

Each report is available through a long, random link and is not indexed by search engines or listed publicly. Anyone who has the link can view the report. You are responsible for whom you share it with. Reports are deleted automatically after 90 days.

Reports may contain screenshots and technical details of the checked website. You may use and share reports to understand and improve tracking on websites. {{THIRD_PARTY_SITE_CONTENT: clarify rights in screenshots of third-party sites}}

5. Fix suggestions, tools and services

Reports link to fix guides, and may suggest tools or services that can help. Some of these, including Pixelary and Prettifyweb, are built or run by the same team as IsPixelWorking; we say so wherever they appear. Findings and grades never depend on which tools a website uses. Third-party tools and services are governed by their own terms. Following a guide or using a tool is at your own discretion; check changes on your website before relying on them.

5a. Monitoring and paid plans {{PHASE2: applies once monitoring launches}}

6. Website owners

If you own a website and do not want it to be checked, see our bot page for how to opt out.

7. Availability and changes

We provide the service "as is" and "as available". We may change, suspend or discontinue all or part of the service at any time. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version.

8. Liability

{{LIABILITY_CLAUSE: to be drafted by counsel. Intent: no warranty of accuracy or completeness of reports; no liability for decisions made based on reports, lost ad spend or lost profits, to the extent permitted by law; liability for intent, gross negligence and injury to life, body or health remains unaffected as required by applicable law.}}
